Between 25%-35% of all business revenue is generated via email…
If that number shocked you, it’s probably because you aren’t personally making that much money with email right now.
Which begs the question, why not?
What should you do to carve out an even larger chunk of revenue for yourself?
The 2POINT team has sent an unmeasurable amount of emails generating millions in revenue for companies of all shapes and sizes.
Let’s talk about how we do it & how you can too.
There are two primary categories of email that you can use to grow your business.
Marketing Emails – are emails that you send to contacts who have opted-in to receive them, either via past purchases or forms or by willingly providing you with their contact details.
Sales Emails – are emails that you send to contacts who have not opted-in to receive them, either by using public contact data or by using email scraping services like Apollo or Seamless.
Note: There are a lot of legal considerations around Sales Emails. Many countries have made it entirely illegal so most of the comments here are regarding U.S. prospects. Please research local laws if you’re attempting outreach internationally.
These two types of email solve very different problems.
Marketing Emails are often intended to nurture leads that otherwise have not made a purchase with your company yet.
But they can also be used to create repeat purchases, upsell or downsell into other purchases, as well as overall push announcements for new product/service categories as your business grows.
Marketing Emails Are:
Sales Emails Are:
Each of these sub-types of emails can be used within your business to create additional revenue opportunities.
The largest businesses are running weekly campaigns of every single type.
Being able to run email campaigns at the scale necessary to generate 25-35% of your entire businesses revenue would be impossible without automation.
Automation allows you to complete actions one-time while benefiting from them hundreds, thousands, or even millions of times.
It’s the different between having a sales rep write & send 100 emails per day VS having a sales rep write 1 email and automatically send it out 10,000 times per day.
The effort involved is 100x less but the outcome is 100x more.
That’s a 10,000x improvement on potential ROI.
Now roll that across all sequence types mentioned in the previous section and you can literally generate millions of touchpoints with customers and prospects at exponential rates.
The best part is that the ROI only gets better over time.
As your email list grows and you add on to your existing email campaigns the results compound on themselves snowballing the revenue of your business.
Sending emails is step one to making money with the channel (duh).
But the real difference maker is how good your emails actually are.
Sending a massive amount of junk email is still not as effective as sending a smaller amount of really good email.
To know if your emails are “good” look for the following performance metrics:
If you’re hitting these metrics, then your email is probably solid.
If you’re missing any of these, it’s worth going back to the drawing board and asking yourself why.
Your emails should serve to be:
You may not be able to do all at the same time, but you should do as many as possible.
In. Every. Email.
If you’ve done the job right, you’ll see a steady stream of additional revenue flowing through your business as a pay off for your hard work!
